Lagos State has announced that all schools in the State will close indefinitely from Monday, March 23.
This according to them is not meant to “to create panic” but is “part of the preventive measures against the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.”
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Education in the State, Folashade Adefisayo adds that the move will help prevent “children and their teachers from becoming more vulnerable to the pandemic.”
It further stressed the importance of ‘social distancing’ among the children while they are at home adding that parents should ensure their children “wash their hands regularly or use hand sanitizers and observe high standards of personal hygiene.”
Lagosians were also advised to report suspected cases as the government continues to trace contacts of identified cases.
Cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria rose to eight on Wednesday and has crossed the 200,000 mark worldwide.
