FRSC Returns N.9 million To Accident Victim To Family In Nasarawa – 12th August, 2020

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nasarawa state Sector Command has returned the sum of N900,000 recovered from the scene of an accident in the state to the family of one of the victims.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Kayode Orolu, Personal Assistant to the FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mr Ahmed Mohammed and made available to journalists yesterday in Lafia.

According to Orolu, a fatal traffic crash had occurred along Keffi-Garaku route on August 10th leading to the death of one passenger, injuries to others and the recovery of cash and other valuables at the scene of the accident by FRSC officials belonging to victims of the crash.

“The location is Sabon-Gida in Keffi local government area. It was a lone crash involving a Volkswagen Sharon conveying 6 passengers on its way from Jos to Abuja.

“Our rescue operatives got to the scene of the crash within 7 minutes of getting the information of the crash.

“The crash was suspected to be as a result of over speeding which led to loss of control by the driver of the vehicle Mr. Suleiman and one Male adult died in the process.

Other passengers in the vehicle sustained various degrees of injuries ranging from fractures, bruises and cuts,” he said.

Orolu said on getting to the venue of the accident, FRSC officials immediately evacuated victims of the accident to the Federal Medicals Centre (FMC) Keffi and began frantic efforts to locate family of the victims and return the victims valuables to them for safekeeping.

The rescue team of the FRSC took all injured passengers to the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi while the deceased body was deposited at the Morgue of same hospital.

“N900, 000 and other Items belonging to both the deceased and injured passengers as recovered by FRSC operatives were then handed over to the victims’ families on Tuesday, August 11 by the Unit Commander RS4.32 Keffi”

Other Items recovered at the crash scene include: One Travelling Bag, One Laptop Bag, One Shuttle Bag, One Vehicle Battery, One Radio, Two Android Phones, One Wrist Watch, Keys and some clothes.

“The Sector Commander, Ahmed Mohammed admonishes drivers against recklessness on the road and also condoles with the family of the deceased and pray to Allah to grant the injured quick recovery,” he said.
