In fulfilment of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s determination to make Ondo State an industrial hub of the country, the first truck assemblage plant has begun operations at Ore Industrial Park (OIP), Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Council of the state.
Manager of the hub, Chief Alex Ajipe, in a statement made available to journalists in Akure yesterday, said that a firm, Dongfeng Trucks, one of the investors at the park, had started assembling of trucks.
Ajipe, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Klick Konnect Network International Limited, added that it was a fulfilment of the promises made by the governor during his third year anniversary when President Muhammadu Buhari came to commission the park.
According to him, the firm, Dongfeng Trucks, which was established in 1969, is one of China’s leading truck brands, with the product range covering heavy and medium duty-trucks.
He said that this was the first time in the history of the state that a truck assemblage plant would be operating in the state, adding that the plant would begin full assembling of trucks when the COVID-19 pandemic subsides.
He described the development as another remarkable milestone of the Governor Akeredolu-led administration in the state, saying: “The hub has recorded landmark establishments, such as one of the highest capacity producers of high quality food-grade ethanol in Nigeria.
“It has the first MDF factory in West Africa; a high-capacity textile mill and a paper mill, among others, all of which have employed the state indigenes in their thousands,” he said.
